If you’ve been following this blog for a while now you’ll know that yesterday I took on the daunting task of organizing my stash. I have to admit that I didn’t realize how much yarn I had. I mean, I knew I had a lot, but seriously? I think the only way I could have more is if I had my own store, but at that point it wouldn’t really be mine. I have often joked with people saying that I could open a small store – I guess it wasn’t really a joke. I have started cataloging it in my profile on Ravelry (MrHugzzz). If you’re looking for anything you can see if I have it and we can work something out. It should take a couple more days to get it updated so please be patient. The other thing is that it’s not just about the yarn. When you add the magazines, books, needles, accessories, and everything else knitting related, I start to think I need a bigger room!
So all this brings me to question whether or not I need help. Is there a Knitterholic Anonymous? I know there are other knitters out there in my position (or worse) but the problem is that it’s widely accepted as “normal” in the knitting community – isn’t it? I have heard countless slogans to the like of “he/she who dies with the biggest stash wins” and “you can tell a lot about a knitter from their stash” and others. To make this all even worse, the Olympics are about to start so I can’t get rid of the stash until they’re over and Canada wins the gold in hockey (men & women) and curling (men & women) and other events. Does anybody want to start a group with monthly meetings? We could start like the regular AA meetings and bring something we need to get rid of. Or maybe enforce a rule like you can’t add to the stash until you get rid of something else. If that were the case, I have lots I can donate if anybody wants it – hehe.
So again, do I need help? Personally, I don’t thin so – especially now that it is so neatly organized (thanks Helen)! And I have the 52 in 52 to do so I will be using up some of it. The funny thing I have noticed about stashes is that you never have the yarn you need! Hence, I am going to finish updating on Ravelry and then sign up to a few stash exchanges (Naughty Knitterz) and see what I can do. I will do an exact ball count to see the extent of my addiction and let you know. Wish me luck … and if you have anything to get rid of or need anything, make me an offer!
Hugzzz 😎
