FINISHED!!!

Wow! I’m speechless. From 9 – 5 today, a regular working day, my Area 51 (stash) was transformed from the organized chaos that it was to a neat orderly stash where not only do I know what I have, I can find it (and so can anybody else) in a matter of seconds! How did this happen you ask? Well, remember the lady I mentioned in the post this morning? Well, she may be short (5’11/2″ – the half is important ) but she has a huge whip! She’s a house guest for the week and suggested we organize the yarn today – she’s a manager with IBM so she knows how to get people to do things. So this morning at 8:30 a.m. I went and got her a cup of coffee and we decided on how to tackle this project. Actually, Helen was a treat to work with as she really is a master organizer. Thankfully this was something I was planning to do at some point anyway, so I was open to her suggestions and prodding. I have to admit though, I didn’t think we would finish in a single day and it only took 8 hours!

So you’re probably thinking that there’s not much yarn. NOT! I now have 14 60L bins (full), 8 large bags with projects, a large potato sack bag with 80 skeins of yarn @ 275m each, and three vacuum seal bags with 20 skeins each. I took about 60 pictures of the yarns that are not readily commercially available as well. Sometime in the next little while I will transfer the information to my stash on Ravelry so you can see how much yarn it really is. I’ll also make a custom scarf free of charge to the person who is closest in guessing how many balls/skeins of yarn I actually have. I’ll leave this open for one week and post the winner on the 16th (hopefully I’ll have counted by then!). I would actually recommend this to everyone with more than 5 balls of yarn. Now that I think about it, it would be a great idea to start when you only have 5 balls. Then you’d never have to spend an entire day organizing and cataloging your own stash. So now I have a large stash, neatly organized. I no longer have an excuse for not getting my projects done.

A bad stitch job ... but it took 3 pictures to get the yarn in!

Now looks like this! Can you believe it?!!

Well, another great thing about having everything organized is that now that I have all this room and know what I have and need, I can go to the LYS (local yarn shop) tomorrow and get some more!

Hugzzz 😎
