WWKIP …

Today is the official first day of WWKIP – or World Wide Knit In Public day. Even though it says day, this event spans a full week and goes until June 16. There is an official website where you can register and find out where a local event is happening. Here’s the link … WWKIP.

Luckily for me, Anne Walsh organized an event here in the Lower Mainland at the Tommy Douglas Branch of the Burnaby Public Library. The event was a great success and Anne and Aruna are in the midst of organizing a local knitting group based on the interest generated from this event. I was glad to see the wide range of ages at the event – and there were even a few men! Well, Aaron is a little young (10 – 12?), but he is a male and he was helping his mom Aruna, teach Lisa to knit! Tiffany was also one of the younger ladies at the event and having a great time knitting away. She was definitely not camera shy!!

If you missed this event, don’t despair. Contact Anne through the BPL to find out about the group that they’re starting. I’ll also have information on here about it once it starts. Hopefully you caught one of the events if you’re in this neck of the woods, but if you didn’t, check the WWKIP website or ask your LYS to see if there’s something going on in your area!
