Happy New Year!

Wow, where did 2011 go? It seems another year is over and time to start another one. More knitting – yeah! I’ll also be celebrating a full 2 years of having this site next month! Another yeah! So I guess the big thing to do is set some resolutions, right? Well, truthfully, I’m not a big one for resolutions. I like to set goals during the year and then when I reach those I set new ones. I know it sounds like resolutions, but the fact that you don’t do them on the 1st day of the year makes them a little bit better for me. There are however, a few goals that I need to set right now, so we can call them resolutions if you like and I’ll track how well I do with getting them done!

  1. Get the Calendar patterns up this week! Yes, if you ordered a calendar, you got the password to the page where the patterns are supposed to be. Unfortunately, they’re not there yet. I’ve been having some trouble with CSS and HTML coding with this new version of WordPress, but I’ve got those figured out. That means I have no reason for not publishing the 5 free patterns that come with the calendars. By the way, if you haven’t ordered a calendar, what are you waiting for? They won’t be any good to you next year.  😉 You can still get them by clicking on this link – ORDER NOW!
  2. Finish the 2013 Calendar by October 15th! The biggest lesson I learned from doing the calendars for the first time was to plan for a very early completion date. That way when the monkey wrench hit the gears, you’ll have time to pull it out and fix all the problems that it created. This year I plan to have the calendar done – shot, printed, and in my hands – by the middle of October. This will also give me much more time to market it and get it in your hands before the Christmas season.
  3. Finish my sweater book! Yes, I’ve been working on a book of sweater patterns for men for quite some time now. It’s time to get this sucker done! Look for this to be completed later in the year, and maybe, hopefully you’ll be able to get it to put it under the tree for someone – or they’ll get it to put under the tree for you!
  4. Post 3 – 4 times a week! Blogging is a tricky thing – especially with knitting. When I first started I was putting up too much information and a lot of you were getting overwhelmed. Then I cut it down and went too far in reverse and I lost a few readers. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say, as you know I do, and knitting has so many facets that I’m interested in I could probably post twice a day. I just have to be more disciplined and ensure I remain consistent and I think 3 – 4 times a week is a pretty good number. Now if I can only get my sex life to the same number I’d be great!
  5. Read 1 knitting book a week! I once heard that if you want to become knowledgeable in your field, you should read 1 book a week (or more if you can) in your field of study. This sounds like a good plan and I think it’s attainable. So this year I’m going to try and read 1 a week and see how it goes. I’ll also be able to review that book on here!
  6. Get a pattern published! I’ve been approached in the past about getting a pattern published and didn’t really want to for various reasons. Now I’m in a space where this seems like a good idea, so I’m going to try and see if I can. It will be a pattern for the fall/winter as I’m sure most magazines already have their spring/summer issues almost finished. I’ll definitely be telling you about it on here if it happens.
  7. Knit 100 meters of yarn per day! I know this sounds like a lot (and it may be) but I did this successfully before for about 6 months. Now I won’t always knit 100m, but over say a week, it will average out. Actually, completing the first 6 will help me get this one done!

Okay, so there you have it. My seven knitting goals/resolutions for 2012. Wish me luck! I’d love to hear what yours are if you have any … maybe we can help each other along in completing them?

Hugzzz 😎
