Well, today is officially the first day of spring, so I guess it’s fitting that I’m deciding on the Knit-A-Long, huh? For the Knit-A-Long I didn’t get a lot of responses as to what to knit, so I’ll take it on myself to decide on something I’d like to make. My first thought was a vest, as I don’t have one, but I recently picked up the new issue of Vogue and saw something in there that I have to make. On page 60, there is a fitted top that looks really nice. It has a lattice back and fitted bodice in front … ah, forget it. Here’s a picture! 😉
The pattern in the magazine says that this is a level 3 of 4, so it is good for the intermediate – advanced knitter. I am sure however, that we will be able to help you along if you decided to attempt this. That is providing that you are a little further along than just knowing the knit and purl stitch. The project calls for 3 balls of Artyarns Silk Pearl and 3 balls of Artyarns Beaded Pearl and Sequin (a silk with glass beads and sequins). in the medium size. You will need 4 of each if you are making the large. I am going to attempt to source these exact yarns (perhaps in a different color though), and/or find a suitable substitute if that proves too difficult. If you want to knit this along with me (I hope to start next week if I can get the yarn), you can find the pattern in the current issue of Vogue Knitting International (Spring/Summer 2011). I guess I’ll have to decide what to do with it once I make it though – it’s not really my style – ;-). Maybe one of my cousins in Jamaica will fit it? Any takers??
