Wow – I can’t believe the response I have had to A Common Thread already! Thanks everyone for their support and ideas. I already have plans and ideas on where this will go locally, seeing as geography is a limiting factor. I didn’t have any concrete plans on how it would grow globally, however, until now. What I’m thinking is a good old fashioned Net Ring. Remember those? I don’t see nearly as many as I used to. Well, this one will be for anyone who can show A Common Thread with knitting, and has a website or blog that I can link to. As i said before, I will be redoing this site over the holidays when I get a bit of a break from that work thing. I hate how work interferes with my knitting. Oh well, soon I will only be knitting … In the redesign, there will be a link to A Common Thread which will have all the information and links to other threads. This will be the Global virtual presence of A Common Thread. The physical, local one will get started with a little road trip project next month. Stay tuned for details on that.
So I’d like to present to you the first Thread in our little virtual group – Small Town Knit Guy. This is the blog for Russell Boyd, a knitter I met from the site Men Who Knit. Russell’s story is similar to mine and others, but still unique, just as he is. If you visit his blog (click on the link above), you can read it in his own words and follow his knitting exploits. I’m particularly drawn to Russell as he has a passion for learning AND sharing everything he can about knitting. That is what I love most about this entire experience I am having with knitting – the learning and sharing. Russell has started a group in Murfreesboro, North Carolina called the Murfreesboro Knit and Crochet Group that meets once a month. Through this group, they made 10 afghans that were donated to Social Services of Hertford County where they were passed on to wards of the state. Here are some pictures …

You can read the full story and see more images on Russell’s blog – here. Thanks for your generosity and drive Russell. We all look forward to having your thread intertwined with ours and sharing the inspiration and warmth you will bring.
Hugzzz 😎
