Any knitter with more than one pair of needles will have more than one project on the go at any one time. If they don’t then you should either hire them to finish projects for you might want to have them checked into a clinic to seek some professional help. As for me, well, I’m the classic definition of a knitter. I have at least 5 things on needles almost all the time. One of my favorites times in my day is when I finish one thing and can cast on a new project. Its kind of line being at the starting line of the 100m finals in the Olympics. So this post is an update of what’s on my needles at the current time and what’s coming up.
- The bias scarf is about 90% finished right now and I should be able to finish it today because as soon as i finish this post it’s KNITTIN’ TIME!
- My Adam’s Rib sweater is about 80% finished. I have to do the sleeves and then I’m done. The good thing is that I am knitting it top down so there’s very little finishing work involved. I have also been spit felting the yarn as I go along, so I’ll only have to darn in ends where I changed colors. Look for the pattern for this on Ravelry within the week.
- Anne’s coat is almost ready to be finished. I say almost because I have to decide just how to do the band. I have a couple ideas and may have to try them both and keep whichever one I like better. Yarn might be ab issue as well. I have enough to finish it with the same one I used, but if I go with a more detailed finish I might have to go with a different choice.
- Quite a few years ago (almost 10 now), shortly after I learned how to knit continental style, I made a Lopi fair aisle sweater. I loved the design but not the yarn. When I got to the color part of the pattern, I first started carrying the second color after every 4th stitch. Once I learned how to knit continental with my left and traditional with my right for fair aisle, I started carrying the second color after every 2nd stitch. This caused a pucker in the sweater so I frogged it down to the armpits (where the color starts) and put it aside. I’m thinking of finishing it now.
I have a forest green sweater that I have designed and am knitting for a friend. It’s actually the first one that will come out of Barrington Knits as an official product so that should be completed very soon.
- Last year I started a cabled sweater with Ultra Alpaca yarn. I don’t have enough to finish it and want to do the sleeves together, so that is sitting on a set of needles right now. I will be going out a little later to see if I can find the yarn to finish it.
- I have started a special piece for a friend which I can’t get into details about (or I’d have to kill you) right now. That will be worked on over the next two day and I’m hoping to be able to give it to them this weekend.
- I have a total of 3 other projects that are one needles that I might frog and steam so I can re-use the yarn for other things.
So those are the projects that I am working on right now. I have quite a few planned for the very near future …
- With the Olympics kicking off tomorrow here in Vancouver, I would love to start a project I have had in mind to commemorate the lone Jamaican athlete at the games.
- I have some chunky sock yarn that keeps calling to me, so I will definitely be doing something with that. I will use it as an opportunity to do both socks on the circulars at the same time – should be interesting.
- I have been talking about a heritage blanket for quite some time now, and after seeing the one that Carolyn made, I will definitely be starting the design of my own with the casting on to follow soon after. Here’s a link to the one on the Twisted Braid’s blog.
- After doing the Bias scarf, I have decided I would like one for myself in the same yarn, but I plan on doing it differently. Obviously, being a warmer scarf, I’ll have to do it soon as spring is here (even though the Winter Olympics start tomorrow) and I won’t get much time to wear it.
Even though there’s more, I will have to stop here as this list should take a couple of weeks to clear up. It will never be totally clear though because as I finish one, I cast on another – or two 😉
Hugzzz 😎
