Well, believe it or not, I turned 3 a month ago! Yup, I’m 3! My first post on this blog was 3 years ago on January 13th. Don’t feel bad if you didn’t wish me happy birthday, I didn’t realize it myself. I actually thought it was this month I was going to turn 3. The laugh’s on me and I take it easily. If you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re taking yourself too seriously.
I didn’t mention this to too many people, but I had a few goals when I started this blog/website. It was partially an experiment, and partially a platform to launch my knitting empire. What do you think of that, Pinky?? *insert evil laugh here* There’s nothing evil about what I wanted to accomplish though. I wanted to help other knitters become better knitters, and help other non-knitters become knitters. Well, thanks to all of you, I’ve done that. And hopefully, the fates be willing, I’ll be able to continue to do that for a lot more than 3 more years.
Along the way, as part of the evolution of this little project of mine, I also decided that I wanted to become more involved in the world of knitting. I became a knitter partially because I wasn’t entirely happy with the choices I had out there. Well, I’m taking another big jump partially because of the same reason. I’ve hinted for a while now that I’ll be carrying my own line of yarns someday. Well, some day is almost here. I’m starting an online retail branch of It Takes Balls To Knit. Yes, I’ll be carrying yarns, patterns, and KnitKits. The yarns and patterns will stand alone, and the kits will have the yarn and patterns together.
What am I starting with? Well, an Organic Merino Wool that really is the most exquisite wool I have ever had in my fingers, a 100% Alpaca, and Alpaca/Merino combination yarns. There are more on the shortlist (very short list) but these 3 will be there on the launch in just over a month’s time.
I’ve been working on the funding for this for some time now and am almost there. I tell you though, I now know why there aren’t more LYS owners. It’s hard to raise capital and even harder to decide what to stock. Partially for that reason, I’ll be doing everything online. With that being said, I’m looking for some help to go the last little bit of this. I’ve started a campaign on Indiegogo to help raise the last bit of that capital. If you can help, fantastic! If you can’t, no worries. I’d ask though that you Tweet this, or Facebook it, or whatever other Social Media ability you have to get the word out there. Heck, don’t forget good old word of mouth – still one of the best ways to spread the word. Click on the picture below to go to the campaign and check it out.
In the meantime, I think I need to have a contest to celebrate turning 3. I’ll cook up something and details will follow shortly. Also, as for the Elementary scarf, the second one is almost done. Expect a pattern shortly, and just to let you know, once it’s all edited and checked, it will definitely be available as a KnitKit in the Organic Merino I mentioned earlier!
Hugzzz 😎
