Sorry to have not posted this week, I’ve been a little sick with a nasty infection. Fortunately, things are better now and I’ll be knitting again in no time. In the meantime, I have been put onto new website that they say is going to be the best thing to hit Social Media since Facebook! I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but I already like it quite a bit. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you need to check out Pinterest.
It’s a site where you add pins – either from the internet or from your own computer – that you find interesting. The pins can be anything at all that you like. What you do is create boards of similar pins, and then add pins to each board. It’s like having a bunch of bulletin boards that you’re interested in with bulletins all over them online. The great thing is that you can share your boards with others to the extent that they can add bulletins to them as well. Or you can share the board but not allow others to contribute. You of course have the option of browsing others boards, repinning their pins, or just simply letting them know that you like their pins.
It’s a great way to see interesting articles, pictures, and other information about subjects that you like. I like it because it’s right up the alley of A Common Thread, but on a global scale, ad it makes the similarities much more visible. I’m also able to share my loves to everybody, and a lot of people who might not know about them. They might like a picture I put up on my Travel board, then discover that I also like knitting and go from there. I look at it as a whole new way of finding new friends with Common Threads you may never have met!
