Pushing Daisies …

I would like to thank a good friend of mine that I taught to knit a little while ago for introducing me to a fabulous television show. Claudia had sent me an email a while back saying that every time she sees me knitting she thinks of the show Pushing Daisies. After a quick google search, I was able to find the show and I was immediately hooked. If you haven’t watched it before, you have to – really! Not only does it have knitting, it has romance, fantasy, drama, and humor. One of the main characters, Chi McBride, is my doppelganger. Seriously – we look a LOT alike! Here’s a photo of the two of us …

As you know I work in the film/tv industry as an extra. Chi was here for two years filming the show Human Target, and quite often I was mistaken as his photo double or stand-in. Had Pushing Daisies been filmed here (or had I known where and when it was being filmed), I would have been a shoe-in as his stand in. Not only do we look alike (minus a few pounds), but his character Emerson Cod, is a detective that KNITS in his spare time. There are quite a few references to knitting throughout the show, and in a few different episodes you actually see Emerson (Chi) knitting. He knit himself gun holsters, a really nice vest that looks like something Brooklyn Tweed would make, and he keeps all his cash in socks that he has knit! In an episode in Season 2 his mother gives him a holster she made to replace the other one he has.

It would have been really cool if I could have been on that set, as I would definitely have taught him how to really knit. Anyway, above and beyond all that, the show is actually really good and very entertaining. Unfortunately, it didn’t have the ratings for a continued run and only lasted 2 seasons. Apparently though, ABC has given the go-ahead for 12 comic books to be written and published by DC to wrap up the outstanding story lines for the fans. I intentionally haven’t gotten into the premise of the show in order to not sway your opinion one way or the other. I will say that I initially watched it out of curiosity (thanks again Claudia) and continued to watch it as I found it very refreshing. If you decide you want to have a peek, it’s available at your video store and I’m sure for download online. There is even an episode where the victim is a multi-billionaire that started by making an electric ball winder – and you actually see it in action!

Hugzzz 😎
