If you’ve been following along on the KAL for the summer top, you should be either finished or almost there. I’ve finished all the pieces and now just have to make a quick fit check, then block the pieces and sew it together. While this sounds like a quick series of events, please let me remind you to take your time at this stage.
Start with the fit. If the person you are making it for is handy, use a bunch of pins or clips and semi-put it together to make sure there aren’t any major adjustments to be made. Minor adjustments can be accounted for in the blocking process. If that part is fine, then block it VERY carefully to the size and shape you’ll need. I am going to lay mine down on a foam pad and lightly spritz it with water. I’ll then cover it with a towel and allow it to dry. At this point it will be ready to be sewn. Here’swhat mine looks like at this point all laid out.
I am going to wait until after the pieces are blocked before cutting the lining for the bra cups. This way I will be certain to get the correct size. I’ll do one more post on this KAL with some tips for sewing it together and final finishing. I can’t stress how important it is to take your time here. You don’t want all that hard work to be for nothing. If you don’t take your time to do a good job here, it won’t matter how well you knit the individual pieces. I hope yours turned out great and please send me some pictures if you did it!
