Summer colors!

In the knitting world, people usually think of colors in the fall when the leaves start to change. It’s a great time of year and you can never go wrong with the earth tones. But  I think there’s something about seeing a redhead (or a woman with any other hair color) wearing a turquoise top. Personally I think turquoise should be the official color of summer. There are some other great colors out there too – all the jewel tones are fantastic. So are the pastels, and the primaries, and every color you can think of. Instead of hibernating your needles as a lot of people do this is a great opportunity to actually pull out some of that yarn you have in your stash (or go and buy some as a lot of summer yarns are on sale right now) and get your needles going. The other great thing is that because it’s summer you don’t have to think about spending hours on a sweater. Take a friend of mines way of thinking – the bigger the better (yes, that’s you Joie) – and knit up a wrap for your bikini or just to accent a nice blouse in the evening. Want a little more – knit a shrug! Or even a scarf, but a fashion scarf. Just use some color.

Here’s a picture of a shrug I’m working on at the same time I’m finishing Jason.

No, it’s not for me. You ladies are so lucky – you can knit quick little things like this any time of the year. Maybe I’ll whip up a T-shirt? Here’s a pattern fora knit bikini by Amanda Ray that wouldn’t take very long at all. Click on the picture for the link.

Here’s another link for a bikini from Canadian Living (again, click on the picture for the link).

Of course you don’t have to make bikinis. Knitting daily is promoting a new book by Cecily Glowick MacDonald and Melissa LeBarre called New England Knits. If you sign up for their emails you can get the free pattern to this very easy yet elegant Diadgonal Lace Scarf. Click on the picture for a link to the page where you can get more information about the book.

Anything with some color that you can finish quickly is perfect. That way you can get out there and enjoy the sun as well. If you make it in turquoise, that would be even better and please send me a picture!

Hugzzz 😎
