Yarn review … Spud and Chloe Sock Yarn

[Translate] Quite awhile ago I did a series of posts on making socks from the cuff to the toe. This tutorial was done without a pattern and went into detail in explaining the anatomy of a sock and how one is made. It is now time to do another one, but this time from the toe up. So for this lesson series you will need to get yourself some sock yarn. If you don’t already have some, you’ll want to run to your local LYS and get some. I was in Wool Is Not Enough the other day and […]

Stranded and loving it …

[Translate] Yes, today being Tuesday should be Tuesday’s tips, but unfortunately I have a cold and was unable to post this yesterday, so I’m doing it today. This is the last week of the color escapade we’ve been doing, and there are a few surprises in store. I should let you know that there will be a contest at the end of his, and one of the prizes will be the book The Essential Guide to Color Techniques by Margaret Radcliffe. If you missed the review of it, search back a couple of weeks when we started all this […]

Tuesday’s Tips …

[Translate] Look both ways before crossing the street. Oh, wait, that’s a tip I learned in elementary school, not a knitting tip. Sorry, but don’t worry, I have some more tips for you again this week. Here we go … Yogurt is good for you – and so are the containers that are left over from the big and small ones. You can use the small […]

Continuing in Color …

[Translate] I hope everyone that celebrates it had a great Halloween. Remember not to eat all your candy all at once! Here in Hugzzzland, we’re continuing our little foray into color. We’ve looked at a few different ways to incorporate color into our knitting, and have a few more to go. So far, all the ways we’ve looked at involve different techniques. Today, we’re going to look at the easiest way possible – I know I said stripes was the easiest, but this way slipped my mind until just now. I am of course, talking about yarn! Yarn has […]

Color me a rainbow …

[Translate] Well, if you’ve read the posts on here over the last couple of days, you’ll have picked up on a common theme – COLOR. This is definitely the time of year to start looking to nature for inspiration in terms of color as the leaves change. Actually, an easy way to create a new color palette is simply to collect a bunch of leaves (raked up from your lawn or elsewhere), take a handful, and toss them in the air. Have an area pre-selected and marked out and go with the ones that land in that area. I […]
