Well, there are just a handful of days remaining for the first part of the Olympics. The torch will be extinguished on Sunday and then re-ignited on March 3rd for the Paralympics. Needless to say it is almost a certainty that I will not finish the Jamaican gold sweater for the first Olympics. I do intend to complete it for the Paralympics however, so wish me luck. As for what else is on my needles;
- I’m design a hood for a friend using charcoal sock yarn
- My Adam’s rib sweater should be finished today. I’ve almost finished both sleeves (It’s great when you can try it on to get the length right) and have decided to make it a little longer
- Monday is the end of the first 4 weeks of the 52 in 52 so I need to have another project completed by then. I was planning on having the Jamaican gold do double duty for that, but now? I have three completed so just need the fourth.
- At my knitting group on Sunday we had a demonstration of beaded knitting and I have some samples to do some designs for Swallow Hill Creations. You can check out their website (SHC) if you’re interested in beaded knitting or want to know a little more about it.
- If I get some time I will start the band on Anne’s coat.
As for the Olympics, it’s been exciting having it here in Vancouver. It has meant that I haven’t had to adjust my sleep schedule to keep track of what is happening. Today Canada got a bronze medal in the women’s 5K long track speed skating as Clara Hughes skated a track record in her final Olympic race. She is the only athlete to have multiple medals in both the summer and winter Olympics. It seems the entire country is a little nervous as later this afternoon Canada plays Russia to move on to the semi-finals in men’s hockey. Canada has had to take the long way around because they lost to the US in pool play. Now, if any team loses, they have no chance of a medal. Win, and you’re onto the final four. Team Canada also has the current lead in women’s bobsled with two more runs to go. That also is later this afternoon and barring a crash, Canada is almost assured of a medal there as well. One good thing is that tomorrow is a bit of a slower day so I can enjoy watching the Canadian men and women kick some serious butt in Curling. I am hoping that Great Britain comes back against Sweden so that my buddy Hugh in England can watch as Great Britain loses to Canada twice in the same competition. Okay, off to do some knitting and watch the hockey game.
Hugzzz 😎
