Stitches West Part II … The Fashion Show, Pajama Party, and more …

Friday at Stitches West saw the classes get going full swing and the market place abuzz with activity seeing as it was open all day! The best events were for that evening though with the Fashion Show happening, the dinner after, and the infamous PAJAMA PARTY – mceed by Marly Bird!! Before you get your hopes up that there will be leaked footage from the pajama party, let me tell you that I don’t have any. Unfortunately, I have lost a lot of images and video from the Friday at Stitches due to a technical malfunction on the part of my camera. 🙁

Truthfully, I’m more disappointed at the images I lost from the fashion show – it was incredible! I do have one picture from the fashion show I’d like t share with you though …

reserved for me

Yup, this was my seat for the fashion show! Luckily I took this with my smartphone or I wouldn’t have any proof. Okay, so I’m going to gawk for a little bit here – please excuse the unabashed name dropping. Guess who was in my row (the front row) at the show? Myra Wood (I sat next to her), Pam Haschke, and Drew Emborsky!!! Can you believe it?? I know you’re asking how I rate for all that, and the answer is I don’t even know.

Okay, a little story to tell you about the fashion show. As you may know, I won the 30 sweater challenge put on by Knit Nation in October. From what I hear, they were originally going to have Benjamin Levisay model the sweater in the show. The thing is, I was going to be there anyways, and it fits me a little better than it does Benjamin. Sooooo, I was ready for my big debut – I was article number 17 (there were around 90 pieces in the show!!). Anyway, at the beginning I was sitting in my seat and paying attention. Myra and I were commenting on some of the pieces and I got so involved in the show that I forgot what number they were on!! I even asked Jeannie from Fiesta Yarns what number they were on and shortly got distracted again! It was an amazing show. Then I hear Rick (one of the announcers) saying, “Steve, it’s your turn”. I leapt up and was on the stage in a flash putting on my sweater and showing it to the roaring crowd. I’m not sure if they were roaring because I was the only male in the show or because of the sweater, but I have to admit that it was kinda cool. Okay, it was way cool! So that’s my story of my little escapade at the fashion show. I’d do it again in a heartbeat though!

One great thing about the fashion show that blew my mind was that 33% of the pieces were given away as prizes to lucky attendees. I couldn’t believe it as pretty much every third piece you heard one of the announcers saying that the kit was going home with so and so … I was very impressed at the generosity of the sponsors. I truly wish the photos had come out as the pieces in the show were stunning. I’m sure if you check out the Stitches page on Facebook some of the pictures will be up.

So after the fashion show was a dinner and then the pajama party (at 10:00). I’ll let you know now that I can’t say much about the party, except it was a GREAT party!! The highlight was a pretend karaoke event where you mimed the words to a song of your choice and strutted your stuff. I’m proud to say that Robert from Yarn Nation and I won that event for our rendition of Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye. Sorry, no video here, you had to be there. 😉 I have heard a nasty rumor that it’s online somewhere, but I’m fairly certain Benjamin was just pulling my leg. If you go onto Facebook and search #stitcheswest you may find some goodies!

More to come … yes, more!

Hugzzz 😎

P.S. A little update … I forgot about a photo!! This is the first dollar I’ve earned at a Stitches event … and I earned it at the pajama party! Now don’t you wish you had been there? 😉
