I picked up my first pair of knitting needles almost 20 years ago and set the goal of being able to design and make my own sweater. I accomplished that goal fairly quickly but found out that I had caught the bug. I started this blog about 3 1/2 years ago because I wanted to share what I had learned in the years that I had been knitting. I didn’t set any particular goal for the blog, I wanted it to evolve naturally, knowing I’d follow whatever path it lead me on. If you had told me it would lead to this I probably would have tried to find a way to rebel against it and try to do something else. I probably would have failed. I have always had a love of teaching and learning, and when I discovered knitting, I found the perfect thing to exercise that love with. You see, knitting is constantly growing and changing and evolving. 100 years from now it will be as different from it is today as it was 100 years ago. That’s the very best thing about knitting for me … you can never learn it all. But it’s so much fun trying, that you can’t help but get wrapped up in the stitches!
I have wanted to share my experiences and discover new ones for a long time now. For a very short time, blogging did that. No, I’m not going to stop, ever, but I wanted to share and learn more. I wanted to reach out and touch as many people as I could through my knitting, and help inspire them and be inspired by them in the return. My very good friend Michael says that it’s more than that I have a passion for knitting, there’s something else and knitting is just the medium I use to express it. Whatever it is, I have found the next medium through which to share this wonderful art. With the aid of modern technology, it’s possible for me to create a show and share it globally with as many people as are willing to experience it. Without telling you much more, here is the first (pilot) episode of the show. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly right. It feels good, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it – with the help of some really, really, good friends.
