I want to thank each and every one of you that have read this blog over the 31/2 years that I have been writing it. It has been an incredible journey and I have learned a lot – and that’s an understatement! I also want to apologize for the inconsistency I’ve shown in posting in the last 6 months, I am truly sorry. There is, however, a reason. Whether it’s a good one or not remains to be seen.
When I first started this blog it was to allow it to evolve naturally, to go with the flow of it and see what happened. I have always liked the exchange of information and even as a kid, I wanted to be a teacher. Ironically, I think that teachers learn just as much, if not more, than their students. I have tried to teach through this blog, and will continue to do so, and in the process learn as well. But I don’t think this blog alone is enough to teach and learn all I want to. There is too much information out there to be exchanged, and even though we’ll never exchange it all, I would like a larger medium than this blog.
About 18 months ago I had an idea to put together a knitting show for television. I met with 2 friends of mine who are in the industry and we hashed out a plan, but were unable to do it because it wasn’t viable for a network. So, dejected, I allowed the plans to fall by the wayside and kept doing what I was doing. Early this spring, I had a chat with a friend of mine and she told me of a viable way to get this show off the ground. Needless to say I was extremely excited, but also cautious. I started to hope and dream and plan again.
I can’t tell you how excited I am about what’s coming now! Yesterday, a few friends and I completed the first day of shooting of our new show – It Takes Balls To Knit! I’ve wanted to tell you about it for ages, but for obvious reasons, I couldn’t. I still can’t tell you everything about it, but I can let the yarn out of the bag. 😉 We’re producing an online show that will have 3 main segments – one instruction (Knit Skool), and then 2 other segments that will feature everything involving knitting – from Alpacas to Zauberballs! In between we’ll have lots of clips, tips, contests, and fun facts! I know that sounds ambitious, but we’re up for the challenge. With your help, it’ll be great and hopefully continue long after I’ve knit my last stitch.
This site will change – in a big way – but the blog will still be here and I’ll still post (much more consistently), and it will be fun! So with that being said, I’d like to announce a contest. We want to spread the word about this as much as we can, and the fact that you’re online reading this, means you’re already halfway connected. I say halfway because there’s a whole slew of places you can go to connect online these days – yes, I mean Social Media. ITBTK already has a presence in most of these places, and we’d like to connect with you through all of them.
Why? Because this is the easiest and best way to connect with the people we don’t know about and that don’t know about us.
How? With your help! When you make a connection with us, your current connections see that and will perhaps, check us out. If they like what they see, they’ll connect, and so on and so on.
So for the contest, I’m giving away a Barrington Scarf Kit. That’s this scarf if you don’t already know it …
Sorry, just the kit ;-). The kit includes the pattern (which isn’t available yet, but soon will be), 3 skeins of Organic Merino Wool in natural (the color shown), and 1 pair of Addi Turbo 4.5mm, 32″ circular needles. This is a total retail value of $100! This will be shipped to the winner at our expense!
To be eligible to win all you have to do is connect with us via any of these links:
Facebook – connect and like our page
Twitter – connect and follow us (we’ll follow you as well)
Pinterest – follow our Knits board
Ravelry – join our newly created group
Each connection gets you an entry in the draw, and you can get a bonus entry by posting on Facebook or Twitter using the hash tag #ittakesballstoknit. This contest closes at midnight local (PST) on September 13th, 2013. The winner will be announced at the time of the launch of the show on September 15th!
This is a shot of the first segment we shot for the show – yarn, mojitos, knitting, and friends! What could be better?!
Hugzzz 😎
