Don’t shun Shan’s

Throughout the month of February, I’ll be doing posts on things I LOVE in knitting – not every day, just sporadically throughout the month. Yes, it’s in honor of Valentine’s Day. So to start this off, I’m going to tell you about a yarn shop in New Westminster – yes, I love yarn shops, and some especially. Shan’s is one of those. I was just in there the other day talking to Shan and snapped a few pics to show you. Shan’s has been in New West for 7 years now, and much to the delight of everyone, is thriving again after relocating late last summer. Shan’s is the nearest yarn shop for most people in the Burnaby, New West, North Surrey, and Coquitlam area. That’s a lot of people to take care of and Shan does a great job of it.

In the store you’ll find a varied assortment of yarns in a great price range for most projects. One a money meter from $ – $$$$$, Shan’s would be about a $$$. The majority of the yarns are priced at about $12 and below, and are of great quality. The scarf that I blogged about recently was made with Merisoft that I purchased at Shan’s. While I was in the store the other day Shan had a display of macrame out – she’s planning on doing a class on it and reviving the craft. Shan’s also has needles and a great selection of books and magazines. There’s a table in the store for you to sit at while you peruse through the books or knit. If you like dogs be sure to say hi to Charlie – when he’s around. Like a lot of yarn shops, Shan’s has classes as well. Their 2012 schedule will be up on their website as soon as they’re confirmed. Since locating in New West 7 years ago, Shan’s has been a community favorite and she’s kept that trend going by staying in New West and continuing to support the community.

Here are a few pictures of the store and a link to their website … SHAN’S.

If you find yourself in New West Minster, make sure you go and check out Shan’s. She’s open Tuesday to Saturday and is located on Columbia just minutes away from the quay. There is talk that she will also be opening one Sunday a month in the very near future. Can’t wait!

Hugzzz 😎
