This week’s Friday Funnies aren’t really funnies – as a matter of fact, they’re the exact opposite. This is an amazing video of Renate Hiller talking about knitting, handwork,crafts, and the passage of information from one generation to another. It made me think about the message in Ishmael by Daniel Quinn which you should definitely read if you have not yet done so. Unfortunately, if we are not careful, what she talks about may come to pass. As a knitter i would like to challenge each and every one of you who reads this to either teach or assist someone in teaching a child to knit so we can ensure the passage of this fantastic craft. No excuses about only learning – children are wonderful sponges and they are always willing to learn new things if taught with patience and understanding. You will even find that their joy and enthusiasm fuels your own. So if you are just learning, this is the perfect way to speed up your own learning curve and pay it forward at the same time!
