Product Review

Addi SOS …

You might remember a series of posts I did a while back on interchangeable circular needles. I pointed out the pros and cons of some of the most popular circular needles on the market. One of my main critiques was that a lot of the companies seemed to be missing one major thing in their kits. Of course they all had the basics, which were needles, cables, and connectors. But then one would be missing different materials in their needles, and another had limited sizes, and so on. I kept looking for one company to put it all together […]

Willow Yarn Review

While I was in Chicago for Vogue Knitting Live (VKL), I met some amazing people. One of them was Claudia from Zealana. If you haven’t heard of this company, you need to follow this link and check them out! ZEALANA. Chances are one or more of their yarns will inspire you and is available at your Local Yarn Store (LYS). I went into a brief description of the company, it’s yarns, and the role opossums play in their development in a previous post. In this one, I’d like to review one of their yarns – Willow. Surprisingly, unlike most […]

Yarn review … Spud and Chloe Sock Yarn

Quite awhile ago I did a series of posts on making socks from the cuff to the toe. This tutorial was done without a pattern and went into detail in explaining the anatomy of a sock and how one is made. It is now time to do another one, but this time from the toe up. So for this lesson series you will need to get yourself some sock yarn. If you don’t already have some, you’ll want to run to your local LYS and get some. I was in Wool Is Not Enough the other day and found […]

The 6 hour Slouchie …

Wow – where did May go? It’s been an incredibly busy month for me and I apologize for the lack of posts. I really have to do some ahead of time for times like these! Anyway, this post is a combination of a pattern and a yarn review. Awhile ago, Sho from Wool Is Not Enough, asked me to come up with a sample for a yarn she had … Latte by Ella Rae. It’s a chunky yarn that is made of Microfiber (40%), Silk (30%), and Baby Alpaca (30%). The feel of the yarn is exquisite – very […]

A little yarn tasting …

What better way to start the week than a little yarn tasting? When I think of one, I’ll let you know. For now however, I’d like to start a little something I call Sip and Knit! Yes, we’ll be tasting a new yarn, but also pairing it with a beverage suitable for that yarn as well. Yes, there’s a strong likelihood that that beverage will include alcohol, but what better way to enjoy a nice yarn than with a nice drink as well? 😉 Well, the yarn we’re tasting this week is called Sweater, by Spud and Chloe. You […]
