Elementary revisited …

Well, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that Tammy, a reader of this blog, recognized the correct stitch pattern on the scarf worn by Lucy in the episode of Elementary from last Sunday. She recognized it as an alternating stocking stitch, reverse stocking stitch pattern, the way it appears when done in the round. As a matter of fact, the thought struck her when she saw the Waves scarf I made and put up the pattern for here on this blog! After seeing Tammy’s comment, I went back and scrutinized the scarf in the show, […]

Stylin’ Lucy!

It’s no secret that I use knitting as an excuse to watch television – it’s the only justification I can come up with to spend countless hours watching a screen of quite often very poorly thought out entertainment. For that reason I am very particular about what I watch on television. One of those shows that I watch is Elementary – the American version of the incredibly brilliant UK Sherlock! If you haven’t seen either, I highly recommend you tune in to both. The latter, Sherlock, is IMHO the best show on television and I can’t wait for Season […]

The 6 hour Slouchie …

Wow – where did May go? It’s been an incredibly busy month for me and I apologize for the lack of posts. I really have to do some ahead of time for times like these! Anyway, this post is a combination of a pattern and a yarn review. Awhile ago, Sho from Wool Is Not Enough, asked me to come up with a sample for a yarn she had … Latte by Ella Rae. It’s a chunky yarn that is made of Microfiber (40%), Silk (30%), and Baby Alpaca (30%). The feel of the yarn is exquisite – very […]

The Constantly Changing Scarf …

You might remember a couple of posts ago when I talked about a scarf I was working on. Here’s the link if you don’t – SCARF. In the post I had mentioned that I had three balls of yarn – Merisoft Hand Paint – in the same colorway but two different dye lots. I had started making the scarf and was planning to alternate the second dye lot through the middle of the scarf and begin and finish with the dye lot that I had two of. Due to a few different things, I decided to frog that and […]

Settling back in …

So now that the hoopla that surrounds the holidays has finally died down, it’s time to get back to the knitting. I have a whole bunch of projects to complete and new ones to start (see last post), so there’s going to be a lot of stitches being made. This will help me keep up with the goal of knitting 100m per day (average) over the year. In keeping with that, the first new project of 2012 is a scarf – surprise, surprise. I seem to have a thing for scarves lately, well, ever since the calendar anyway. I’ve […]
