As promised, I have completed the ebook I was working on for cabled braids. I’m doing a self-review here until I get a few comments from the people who get a copy and comment on it. Admittedly, when I started this ebook, I was simply going to write out the patterns for a 12 and 24 or 32-strand cable, as that was what a lot of people were asking for. As I got involved in working out the math formulas for the braids though, I realized this wasn’t as complex as it sounded for beginners as well. I have taught a lot of beginners how to make cables and realized I could add a few pages and make this ebook suitable for beginner and experienced knitters alike. So that is what I have done.

I have expanded the scope of the book along with the pages (there are 16) to include more information that I think will be of use to everyone. I started by explaining what cables really are and how they’re created. I then went into the process of traveling cables across the background of your fabric to produce the effect of movement. Then I delve into the braids themselves – mostly even numbered braids for now, as they are the ones that first intrigued me. I’m fairly confident you’ll find the math formulas fairly easy to understand, and through the process of reading this book you’ll grasp the concept of braids a little better. My goal is to get you to the place where you not only see where a cable is going, but you’re confident enough to alter or vary it to suit your own needs.

If you’re not the experimental type, no problem. You’ll find the pattern for a massive 24-strand braid in the book (that traverses a whopping 114 stitches) which will give you the pattern for all the even numbered strands below it (22, 20, 18 … to 4) so that you can knit a braid of whatever size you need for whatever project you’re working on. If you need bigger that that, you’ll can use the formulas and process I’ve described in the book to do it. If you do, I’d love to see a picture of whatever you come up with! There’s also link to a great charting program if you want to create your own cables, or lace, or colored patterns and tips and techniques that I think will help knitters of all levels.

To get this ebook, click on the new page link Patterns and Products and you’ll find it available for purchase. It’s $8.00 Canadian and I think a great value. As a little bonus, the 8th order will receive a little bonus. I’d like to finish this post by thanking everyone for their encouragement in the creation of this book! I’m already looking forward to the next one and putting up some patterns too!

Hugzzz 😎

No, not me – you.
