Vancouver has a set of rings that are normally blue, but go gold when we win a gold medal. We did that twice today and came within inches of getting a third! Okay, but before I get into the update there, I’m pleased to announced I have another FO! I decided to make my Adam’s Rib sweater a little longer so after I had finished the sleeves I undid the cast off edge. Normally this would be at my neck, but I made this sweater from the top down as you remember. So I simply put the stitches back on my needle and knit a couple more inches. About 20 minutes later, I cast off the stitches, darned in just 6 ends, and finished my sweater! I love knitting top down! I’ll write out the pattern and make it available on Ravelry early next week. I’d say this weekend, but tomorrow I’m going to watch the Canadian men win in curling, and Sunday is the men winning in hockey! Yes, I know. For those of you chefs out there, should it be necessary, I like my crow well done. I’m pretty sure I won’t be eating any though.

So, what else is on my needles? Well, my Jamaican Gold sweater, of course, which I will continue to knit until Sunday evening. I will then pick it up again on March 3rd at the start of the Paralympics. I have wound up some yarn for a bead knitting design I’m working on as well and should get that strung on Sunday. If you’ve never knit with beads before you should know that it’s necessary to string the beads onto the yarn before you cast on your first stitch. Depending on the size of the project and the number of beads you’re using, this could take a while. Since I’m designing this one myself, I have to have an exact chart representation of the project so I know how many beads I will need and where to place them. Nah, I don’t like anything easy. I also have a hood that a friend asked me to make that I will try and finish as well. Then, I have to tackle that box of UFOs I have and try to turn them into FOs. Wish me luck!

Even though this is a knitting blog, I can’t completely ignore the Olympics – they are right here! I would like to send out a congratulations to all the medalists today (but especially Canada’s) as it was a great day to be a spectator. The Hockey game between Canada and Slovakia was probably the most exciting ending I’ve seen to a game yet. The Canadian women came within less than 2 inches to winning gold in curling. Good luck to the men tomorrow. My prediction is a gold medal performance – provided they’re not too distracted by the Norwegian men’s pants!

Good luck Norway - you'll need more than clown pants to beat Canada!

Hugzzz 😎

Well, I won’t get a gold medal in the knitting Olympics because I have been too distracted by the real thing!
