Well, it’s a VIDEO Knit-A-Long!<\/p>\n

What’s a VIDEO Knit-A-Long you ask?<\/p>\n

It’s a Knit-A-Long with video support – a lot of video support! Think of it as getting a bunch of lessons AND a pattern AND giveaways and FUN! We’re going to be stating a Knit-A-Long for the Barrington 5.0. I know, the 4.0 isn’t even out yet! It will be soon, but I wanted to spread the news about this VKAL now, to get things ready for it’s launch right after Stitches West!<\/p>\n

So here’s the plan … the Barrington 5.0 is done using the Double Knitting technique. Double Knitting is not as yet a very widespread technique in the world of knitting, but it’s gaining momentum and will be part of a lot of knitters’ repertoire in the very near future, I’m sure. I’d like to help you with that – yes, you – and promote some great yarns in the process. So I’m doing a VKAL!<\/p>\n

This is how it works ….<\/p>\n

You sign up for the VKAL – the cost is $5 if you sign up before the launch on March 1st, and $7 after.\u00a0 I create a series of videos to help you work your way through the completion of the project and upload them to a private group where you get to see them as many times as you need to in order to learn this technique.<\/p>\n

I’ve selected 3 GREAT yarns for you to use to accommodate a wide range of styles and budgets. Of course, if you aren’t happy with any of the choices, you can select your own (I’ll help with that too). There will be prizes along the way and even MORE so if you use one of the yarns suggested!<\/p>\n

This VKAL is also like a mystery KAL. Even though you know what you’ll be making, you’ll get the pattern in snippets. This will make it more communal, interactive, fun, and give you a chance to check your work so you don’t make any mistakes.<\/p>\n

The videos will give you a chance to learn a new technique (if you don’t already know how), so even an enthusiastic beginner will be able to knit along for this project. If you’ve never double knit before this is the perfect opportunity for you to learn how as this project is done in the round, so you don’t have to worry about edges! It is the perfect introduction to Double Knitting for the novice, and a great project for people who have already learned the technique.<\/p>\n

The Barrington 5.0 is a double knit version of the Barrington Braid. Being double knit it is reversible and as cozy as a regular cabled garment. While the cable is depicted in the pattern, you don’t have to cross a single stitch to do this. As a matter of fact, it’s a fairly easy pattern to make (once you’ve been given the chart – which wasn’t quite as easy to make) and even a patient beginner can do this. Especially if they have video support – which you will!<\/p>\n
