Knowing his career wouldn’t last forever, he opened up a coffee/doughnut shop in Hamilton in 1964. Unfortunately for Tim, he would never see the huge success of his chain, as he died in a car crash in 1974. At the time there were 40 stores, but now Tim Horton’s is a national landmark and is growing in visibility in the United States.

This year, the company decided to do a yarn bombing of its store in Fort Frances Ontario, where temperatures average about -15 C (5 F) for the winter. The bombing included trees, benches, fire hydrants and more. All of the bombed articles were connected with red yarn which lead to a Tim Horton’s store that had been completely bombed with yarn! The interior (even the floor) was covered and the roof was adorned with a hat and scarf.
