First of all, and most importantly, we’re going to start from the toes and work our way up to the cuff! This will allow you a little more flexibility in your design and you’ll get to decide on the length later, rather than sooner. This way if you don’t have enough yarn for full length socks, you can make ankle length ones.

We’re also going to show you another heel option – the Afterthought heel – which will increase your repertoire and give you some more options as well. Some people think this heel is also more comfortable – you can decide later.

Since you’re starting from the toes, you can customize the shape of the toes (make a true left and right foot sock) and also incorporate any pattern into the sock that you’d like.

With the first socks we used Jeny’s stretchy cast on to ensure a very elastic cuff edge. This time we’re going to show you an equally stretchy bind off to give that same elasticity to the cuff edge again!

I think those are the major changes for this round. To get started for the cast on, you’re going to need your yarn of choice and needles to match. I’ll go over different needles and techniques to use in the first post – circular, 2 circulars, and double pointed. All work and your choice is entirely up to you depending on preference. Do a swatch to find your gauge in the size of needle that you like the best. It doesn’t matter what the yarn ball says,we’re going to make up the pattern as we go along depending on your gauge.

I’ll give you a couple of days to get this together and do you swatch.

Hugzzz 😎

So welcome to my little sock knit-a-long, Version 2.0.
