Here’s the link if you don’t – SCARF. In the post I had mentioned that I had three balls of yarn – Merisoft Hand Paint – in the same colorway but two different dye lots. I had started making the scarf and was planning to alternate the second dye lot through the middle of the scarf and begin and finish with the dye lot that I had two of. Due to a few different things, I decided to frog that and just knit dye lot A, then B, then A again. Here’s a picture of the result.

And here’s a more detail picture showing the pattern and the two different dye lots – surprisingly they are the same color!

I actually quite like the way it has turned out. If you look closely at the picture, you can see that I have returned to the original dye lot (where the ball of yarn is resting). The only problem I have with this scarf now is the length. It is already 75″ long – each ball knits approximately 33″ of scarf. Yes, what I should have done was measure the first ball after I had frogged it the first time. I hadn’t though as I like long scarves and didn’t think it would be this long. So yes, when it’s done i will end up with over 8′ of scarf. That’s long, even for me! Maybe I’ll join the ends and make a circle scarf that can wrap around someone a few times? I’ll have to add buttons again like I did with Waves – or undo the first row of knitted scarf … this may be problematic but I love a good challenge!

So two things that doing this scarf has brought to light that I will be looking into and posting about in the near future …

Size – I plan o do a few swatches to be able to estimate width and length of x number of stitches and y number of rows of knitted material – especially for scarves. There’s quite a few resources for doing this with sweaters online, but not for scarves. This will help greatly in design work and prevent incidences like this one.

Photography – I have to get a little photography studio set up to take pictures of knitted work. If you look at the pictures from this post, you’ll see that the main tone of the colorway is blue, with green mixed in. If you look at the pictures in the last post, you’ll think it’s green with blue undertones. In truth, the real color is blue with green, yet neither set of pictures captures it exactly. It’s a mixture of both, but I didn’t want to use Photoshop to change it.

I’ll keep you updated on my progress in both areas!

Hugzzz 😎

You might remember a couple of posts ago when I talked about a scarf I was working on.
