Of course when it comes to knitting there’s no real “cookbook” that’s out there like that. Well, none that would be practical for something like that anyways. So I thought of doing two things – 365 stitch patterns in 365 days or 52 projects in 52 weeks. There is the chance I might get really ambitious and do both, but for now I thought it might be fun to do 52 in 52. So the ground rules would be simple:

There must be 52 distinct projects that require at least one 50g ball of yarn and/or at least 50m of fiber. In other words, no tension squares or little bitty dish cloths. Now to make it feasible and interesting, I will allow myself to include UFOs that I finish during this time as long as they are ones that require at least one ball of yarn to finish.

No more than 25% of my projects can be scarves, hats, mittens, or other accessories of the like.

No more than 25% of the projects can be socks.

I can not repeat a particular project in a different yarn or color (except sock which seem to be identical anyway). I can however change a scarf to a sweater as this is how I usually design sweaters, by first doing the “swatch” as a scarf.

I have to give away at least 50% of the projects – this ensures they will be well made and completed!

I will have to post a picture and brief bio of each project on this blog as they are completed.

Each completed project will only count as one project, no matter how large.

I must complete at least 4 projects each calendar month, not necessarily one each week, although at the end of the 52 weeks I will need to have finished 52 projects.

So, I plan on making a few scarves, sweaters, and socks. Seeing as I have to give away at least half of them, anybody want anything?

Hugzzz 😎

I recently saw the movie Julie and Julia and thought, what a great idea.
