This is the weekly posting I like to call Friday Funnies. It started out as just humor, but has turned into anything a little different in the world of knitting. We’ve had quite a a variety, from knitting comic books to boobies. Well, this posting continues the trend as it’s the Halloween edition. Yes, two days hence it’s Halloween. What are you going to be? Maybe this photograph will give you some ideas.<\/p>\n

The artist responsible for this is Ben Cuevas who knit this skeleton for a project he worked on called Transcending the Material in New York. Did you notice that even the ribs are knit in two different colors showing where bone and cartilage differ? Wow? The teeth are done the same way as you can tell in some of the pictures in an article about it here – BEN CUEVAS.<\/a> Brilliant!<\/p>\n

Of course, I couldn’t do a Friday funnies about Halloween without a few words about Mark Newport. Mark is a fiber artist who has been knitting superhero costumes for years now. He has gotten very successful at it too and does regular gallery showings. His costumes now sell for up to $7,000 each. Although I have no idea if he does custom work, it would be interesting to talk with him and find out how long it takes him to make a costume. Here he is putting the final touches on his Spider-Man outfit a few years back. If you click on his name below the picture it will take you to his website and more pictures of costumes in his portfolio.<\/p>\n

Here is a link for an Illusion Knitting pattern of Death’s Head.\u00a0 Perfect for Halloween – although you may have to knit it for next year. It’s on Ravelry so you need to be a member to get it as you have to sign in. Click on the picture to get the pattern. It would be cool to do a really big one and have it hanging outside your door with a sign saying “Abandon hope all who enter here”! Or something cool like that. You wouldn’t have to give out much candy I bet!<\/p>\n
