I was in one of the forums I belong to on Ravelry today and I saw this term – YINKs – Yarn I’ll Never Knit. My first thought was what a great term, which was quickly followed by have I got a lot of yinks! This gave me a great idea for what to do with my yinks. I’m going to put up a new gallery on this site that’s called yinks and it will have quite a bit of my yinks in there. Now truthfully, I won’t just dump all my acrylics in there (I have to keep some for waste knitting on the machines and I don’t have a lot of acrylic anyways). There will be some good yarns in there that I got with really good intentions, but for one reason or another haven’t gotten to yet.\u00a0 There will be some down right steals in there of really nice yarns where I\u00a0 got a great deal and\u00a0 didn’t want to pass it up, or changed my mind about the color, or whatever it was.<\/p>\n
So here’s my plan. If you see something in my yink stash that you’d like or can make use of, let me know. I’ll have it in two categories – free and trade. The stuff that’s free I’ll gladly just give you. Please though, only ask for it if you know you will or can use it soon, so that somebody who does really need it can get it. If I need to ship it to you, all you have to do is cover the shipping costs. Easy peasy. The trade stuff is stuff that I’d like to trade for something of equal or close to equal value. Make me an offer. This is where you can barter a bit, but don’t get silly. If you don’t have anything to trade but would still like the yarn, we can work out a price and you can just buy it our right. Once we agree on the trade, we’ll make it happen. I’ll send my package to you and when you get it, you send yours to me. I don’t mind waiting and I trust you – you are a knitter after all. Hopefully this will help both of us either destash or organize our stash better. I’m hoping that my stash will actually get smaller and more manageable – truly. Okay Helen, stop laughing.<\/p>\n
Now this will take about a week or two to set up – I’m crazy busy right now and I have a lot of pictures to take, but I didn’t want to forget about this. So look for the new gallery in a couple of weeks and let the trading begin!<\/p>\n
