I would like to thank everybody that has visited this site since I started it. After 150 posts you truly make we want to continue writing and I have to say that on the days that I don’t get to, I do miss it. I realize that I can’t post everyday as it becomes overwhelming for you (and me), but I often want to and probably could. At any rate, when I started this I had no idea of what to expect in terms of visitors and readers. About a month in I thought if I could get an average of 100 visits a day after 1 year I would be happy with that. It seems I have surpassed that already and I have 4 months to go. Now I know 100 visitors a day isn’t that many when you think about how many knitters are online, but it seems to be that magic number that sites need to get to before they end up going viral. So I’d like to thank all of you for visiting and continuing to visit.

The thing that excites me the most about your visits though is where you are from! I literally have visitors coming from all over the world! I wish I could describe to you how great that feels to know that there is interest in something you are doing world wide. I had put up a post a while ago about the 6 degrees of knitting separation in hope of making a connection to two of my favorite designers. To date I haven’t made contact but I would like to add another to that list – Melissa Leapman. I’m actually going to track down her schedule as I know she was just out here in my neck of the woods (south of the border in Oregon and I’m in Vancouver, BC) and she frequently travels to speak about knitting. I’ll be getting her book on cables very soon as I am very intrigued by her cable work. In the meantime, I am still testing out the 6 degrees of knitting separation …

Melissa is not the only person I would like to meet or make contact with though. In truth, I want to make contact with all of you that are reading this post (and have read any other ones too). I was on Google Analytics and have discovered that I have had numerous visitors from places I didn’t expect. Just to mention a few (by no means is this all of you or the only ones I am interested in):

I have had 38 unique visitors from Spain! Please, one of you leave a comment and introduce yourself.

Antoinette in France visits every day and has become a great friend – thank you A! Humongolous hugzzz to you!

South America is well represented with visitors from Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia to mention a few …

Zimbabwe (thanks Tracy) and South Africa visit from the southern tip of the African continent

The land down under sends me visitors from Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart (in Tasmania), and Canberra

New Zealand has visited quite a few times (who is there?)

North America has more visitors than anywhere an I thank you all

There are a few places that I haven’t had a visitor from as yet and I would like your help to change that. Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Greenland, Madagascar, and Indonesia are the major land masses that I haven’t gotten a visit from as yet (according to GA). There are also a few countries that haven’t peeked in yet – Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Bolivia, Iran, Venezuela, and Iceland are a few countries missing on the grid. What I’d like to do is try and close that up so that we are a truly international community. If you know anybody that knits that lives in a different place than you, please send them an invitation to check out this site if you feel they may like it or learn something from it. Actually, send it to anyone that may like it, regardless of geography. Also, please take a moment sometime to say hello on the guest book. I would love to see who is reading this and appreciate any feedback you want to leave.

That’s the really cool thing about knitting – it’s really a worldwide thing and blogging about it allows us to connect to people we wouldn’t even know existed. I have made some great friends already and know that there are lots more to be made in the near future. Throughout all that though I don’t want to lose focus on why I started this blog and what has brought you here. This is and will always be a knitting site. I am a very curious person and while I have certain areas of knitting that I can’t stay away from, I really would like to try and delve into all of them for at least one project. If there is a particular area that you would like to see me explore (or explore with me), please let me know via the comments or emails. Chances are I will willingly delve in with you and we can learn something new together (or you can teach me or I you). I look forward to so much more knitting with you in the future!

Hugest hugzzz,

Steve 😎

Wow!
