Okay, so this post is all about Andrea and her group that she has started in Fort Langley. Last night I went aaaaaaaaaall the way to Fort Langley\u00a0 to meet up with a friend that I had never met. Funny though, she’s rather cheeky on Facebook and the phone, but really a marshmallow in person. Anyway, I met Andrea through another friend who suggested to her that she got to know me as I’m a knitter as well. I’m not sure I’m going to\u00a0 hang out with that friend anymore! Just kidding. Anyway, Andrea goes to the Fort Langley Stitch and Bitch (and boy, do they bitch!) every Wednesday night from 8 – 10 that her friend Tara started. It’s held at a little cafe called Wendel’s which is an institution in FL. I have to say that I quite enjoyed my time there and will probably go back.<\/p>\n

Wendel’s is a cafe (more than a coffee shop) with a small bookstore attached. The great thing about the bookstore is that they carry knitting magazines and comic books – two of my favorite things to read in the world. They even have a copy of Continuous Cables by Melissa Leapman which I intend to get next time. I’ll do a review of it once I read it, but having already skimmed through it I know it will be worth the cost. I’ve had a hold on it from the library but I just can’t wait for that anymore. Anyway, the cafe part is great too. It has all your usual suspects and a whole lot more. Let’s just say I didn’t expect to see Butter Chicken with Naan Bread on the menu of a cafe, but there it was. along with Phad Thai and Quesidillas. After being warned not to try the chicken because of it’s addictive nature, I opted for that along with a cup of Earl Grey Tea. I was pleasantly surprised. Having made butter chicken myself and also sampling it at some authentic Indian restaurants, I would have to say that Wendel’s did a very good job of recreating it. The sauce was excellent and even though they used chicken breasts for the meat, they were soft and succulent.I’ll have to see how well they do Thai next time.<\/p>\n

As for the knitting, we had a great time. I’ve met a bunch of new friends and have another spot to hang out on free Wednesday evenings. Okay, maybe I’ll have to schedule it as I usually don’t have free evenings now that it’s full on knitting season. The group also allows Crocheters as well – Nicole was crocheting away like mad yesterday and helping Andrea out even though she just picked it up a month ago. I think she’s been bitten by the bug. Tara is the resident expert and founder of the group, helping everybody along when they have a problem that they can’t handle or just to teach new stuff to. I’m not one to advocate drinking and knitting – wait a minute,\u00a0 yes I am!\u00a0 – but they’re also licensed. They’re at 9233 Glover Road in Fort Langley.
