Happy Canada Day to everyone in Canada (and an early Happy Fourth of July for my American Friends) and I hope your celebrations were great. I have started settling down in my new place in Steveston. I’ll do a post soon as I am about 10 minutes away from the pier and one of the best yarn shops in the lower mainland, so you know I’ll get a lot more yarn for my stash! I know Helen, but there’s not much I can do. Did I mention that my new roommate works for the Canadian Distributor for Addi Turbo needles and accessories and also Skacel Yarns (skacelkniting.com<\/a>). Yes Anne, I do need more needles. For everybody that doesn’t have the quick access to the needles and yarn as I do, don’t worry, Kate will ship\u00a0 throughout Canada. You can also find free patterns on the site and information about the Addi’s as well. I’ll see what I can do and there may be a contest involving one or both divisions in the near future.<\/p>\n

As for myself, unfortunately moving means it will be a couple of days before I can pick up some needles again. I’m in the process of helping Kate reorganize the house and both our stashes. I think between the two of us we have enough books and magazines for a library and definitely enough yarn for a store. But as Kate said, there’s no option of opening a store as you can’t sell your yarn, right? So aside from reorganizing and settling in, I spent the day enjoying Canada Day. There was a celebration in Steveston all day and it all stated with a great pancake breakfast. At this celebration there a cool kiosk selling kettle corn. What was really neat was watching the guy make the popcorn in a very large kettle. It was interesting to watch the process. He had on full body protection as well as headgear (see picture below) as apparently the oil (canola) splashes quite vigorously sometimes. The entire process only took four minutes!<\/p>\n

I don’t mean to tease anybody, but I had to drop into Wool and Wicker<\/a> after the fair. Just in case you thought I was kidding, here’s a small sampling of the needles. You have to have a few if you’re supplying all of Canada!<\/p>\n

Now I’m going to relax for the remainder of the evening and peruse through the new issue of Knitters.<\/p>\n
