Kauri review …

[Translate] Today’s post is on another of the yarns from Zealana – Kauri. Kauri is a worsted weight yarn composing of 60% NZ Merino, 30% Possum, and 10% Silk. It comes in 50g balls of approximately 86m or 94y. The suggested gauge for this yarn is 20 stitches to 4 inches using 4.5mm needles. I have found though that it will knit up anywhere from 16 – 20 stitches quite nicely simply by changing the needles. Being a loose knitter I get 18 stitches with 4.5mm and 16 with 5mm. Your results may vary, but you’ll be pleased with […]

The 6 hour Slouchie …

[Translate] Wow – where did May go? It’s been an incredibly busy month for me and I apologize for the lack of posts. I really have to do some ahead of time for times like these! Anyway, this post is a combination of a pattern and a yarn review. Awhile ago, Sho from Wool Is Not Enough, asked me to come up with a sample for a yarn she had … Latte by Ella Rae. It’s a chunky yarn that is made of Microfiber (40%), Silk (30%), and Baby Alpaca (30%). The feel of the yarn is exquisite – […]

W.I.N.E. …

[Translate] Continuing with things I love in the month of February, it’s time to post about one of the newer yarn shops in Vancouver – Wool Is Not Enough. Shoshana opened WINE last August in the Tinseltown Mall in Chinatown, Vancouver. The concept was very unique as the store – which she referred to as a Very Little Yarn Shop – was almost completely mobile and was set-up almost overnight. With the help of her husband she was able to convert a simple ordinary kiosk space into a very nifty yarn shop. You weren’t fooled by the size for […]

Wool Is Not Enough …

[Translate] Hi everybody! Yes, I’m still here. Sorry for the disappearance – I’ll put up a post about it soon. In the meantime, I have to tell you about my favorite new LYS – even though Sho calls it her VLYS (Very Little Yarn Shop). I’m talking about the kiosk in the Tinseltown Plaza in Vancouver called Wool Is Not Enough. Funnily enough, Anne and I heard mention of this shop last week when we were discussing the upcoming Yarn Harvest in the lower mainland with our Sunday knitting group. As I had done a post a couple of […]

Yikes!

[Translate] Wow! I can’t believe it’s been a month since my last post! I am sooooo sorry. Yes, things happen, and I have been a little busy, but I honestly don’t know where the month went.I’m going to blame it on the weather – yeah, that’s right. It’s all mother nature’s fault. No seriously, the blame is all mine and I promise to never let it happen again. So where were we? … Oh, yeah, the summer top. Well, if you started the top, don’t fret. I will have the full pattern written up and on the blog, along […]
