Close Knit Community …

[Translate] It seems the holiday spirit is alive and well at Tim Horton’s here in Canada. The company did all it could to help warm up Fort Frances, Ontario, and knit an entire community together in the process. Tim Horton was a hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs (most notably) for 22 seasons in the NHL. Knowing his career wouldn’t last forever, he opened up a coffee/doughnut shop in Hamilton in 1964. Unfortunately for Tim, he would never see the huge success of his chain, as he died in a car crash in 1974. At the time there […]

Interesting Pins …

[Translate] Sorry to have not posted this week, I’ve been a little sick with a nasty infection. Fortunately, things are better now and I’ll be knitting again in no time. In the meantime, I have been put onto  new website that they say is going to be the best thing to hit Social Media since Facebook! I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but I already like it quite a bit. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you need to check out Pinterest. It’s a site where you add pins – either from the internet or […]

A Common Thread Road Trip …

[Translate] Well, I have finally set a date for the first Common Thread outing. As it turns out, it will also be a road trip. For those of you not located close enough geographically to participate with our group, I invite you to try and organize one of your own and see what you can do. Even a dishcloth will be fine. If you are close enough geographically to participate with our group though, book Saturday, January 29th on your calendar. On that day we will be traveling to Victoria, BC to visit three yarn shops. I have worked […]

The First Thread …

[Translate] Wow – I can’t believe the response I have had to A Common Thread already! Thanks everyone for their support and ideas. I already have plans and ideas on where this will go locally, seeing as geography is a limiting factor. I didn’t have any concrete plans on how it would grow globally, however, until now. What I’m thinking is a good old fashioned Net Ring. Remember those? I don’t see nearly as many as I used to. Well, this one will be for anyone who can show A Common Thread with knitting, and has a website or […]

More Common Threads …

[Translate] I know it’s Tuesday and you’re probably expecting Tuesday’s Tips, but unfortunately they won’t be here today. Actually, I won’t be doing the tips regularly anymore. They will still happen, just not every Tuesday. I do have something special for today though. Last week I put up a post called A Common Thread. I am pleased to say that the reaction was better than I had expected. I have been working on the idea of A Common Thread and was planning on using it as a way of connecting different knitting groups to work on common projects together. […]
