Treasuring a Treasure …

[Translate] If you’ve been knitting for more than a few hours, chances are you’ve heard of Barbara Walker. If you haven’t, don’t worry, you will. I can guarantee you that she will become a fairly large influence on your knitting – even if you don’t realize it. Barbara is responsible for the compilation of thousands of knitting stitches (a lot of which she invented herself) in the form of four treasuries. To say these treasuries are a must have in any knitting book library is an understatement. As a mater of fact, no library is complete without them. Unfortunately, […]

Summertime … and the knitting is easy …

[Translate] I don’t know what part of the world you’re reading this from, or what the weather is like there, but for me it couldn’t be better. I’m in Vancouver (Burnaby, actually), BC and summer has finally arrived. The best thing about summer here in Vancouver is that it never gets too hot or too cold and the humidity is usually very low. It really is perfect weather. It hasn’t been a typical summer for us as it’s been colder and wetter than usual. Quite a few of my league’s baseball games were rained out ans we had o […]

Knitwit KnitLit … the other 10 …

[Translate] In my last post I started to tell you about all the knitting magazines that are out there these days – even though it’s almost summer here in the Northern Hemisphere. Yes, to some it is surprising, but the truth of the matter is that it has never been easier to find information. It’s good to know that knitting magazines are one such item. Maybe someday in the interest of […]

Knitwit KnitLit …

[Translate] Well, it looks like summer is finally here – thank goodness and while that usually means the knitting slows down, it’s nice to say that it’s actually the opposite! I actually find that having longer days allows for some more relaxing knitting outdoors! Speaking of that, a quick aside, tomorrow (Sat June 11) is the first International Yarn Bombing Day AND Knit in Public Day! So make sure you go out and knit in public and then bomb something with your knitting! I’m working for a good chunk of the day but will try and get something done […]

More Alice!

[Translate] My knitting library has a new favorite item – Alice Starmore’s Aran Knitting. If you knit regularly and even pick up a catalogue or two over a season, you’ll probably have heard that Alice Starmore was releasing an updated copy of her very popular Aran Knitting book. If you didn’t know or haven’t heard, Alice Starmore has released an updated copy of her very popular book – Aran Knitting. It is as amazing as the first one – because it is the first one – but with MORE Alice, MORE Star, MORE Alice Starmore. I was lucky enough […]
