[Translate] Every now and then something happens that just puts a smile on my face! Yesterday, this very thing happened. I was coming home on transit from a day on a commercial for Wells Fargo when I noticed the Chinese lady behind me had a unique pouch for her Compass Card. That’s the card that we now use for our transit system to pay our fares. The color – a dark cranberry – caught my eye first. When I looked closer I realized it had been knitted. I tapped her on the shoulder and asked if she knitted it […]

Getting back to normal?

[Translate] No way! To coin a line from a very famous film … “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore” … I want to thank everybody for the patience they’ve shown as we go through the growing pains of working out the kinks in the production and distribution of this new show. Unfortunately, my posting has suffered a little as it has been extremely difficult finding the time to deal with the issues that have arisen and still maintain any amount of normalcy in my everyday routine. I’d like to say though, that things are looking a lot better, […]

Let’s get started …

[Translate] Okay everybody, it’s time to get started! Believe it or not, you can make a sweater in 30 days, even if you’ve never made 1 before. Johnny and the gang at Yarn Nation have put together what is the largest KAL I’ve ever seen to teach you how to do just that. If you haven’t heard about it, you can get all the details here … 30 Day Sweater … and you can save 25% off the cost by registering with Team Hugzzz (at the same link). We’ll also be posting updates on our sweater(s) as we go […]

30 Day Sweater …

[Translate] Fall is absolutely the best time of the year for knitters! Not only is the weather perfect for cozy, warm sweaters, but you get tons of inspiration from the colors of nature at this time of the year. There’s also some major events going on around now. In North America, we’re preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving, Hallowe’en, and Rememberance day as well, and VKL Chicago and Stitches East in Connecticut is one week later. But this year, fall is extra special. Not only are we putting up the first episode of our new show It Takes Balls To Knit […]

Mike's sweater ...

Adam's Rib …

[Translate] Madam, I’m Adam. As well as possibly being the first words spoken by one person to another, the previous sentence is an example of a Palindrome. It reads the same forward and backwards. In knitting, its a reversible fabric. It can get really challenging when you’re doing it with cables, but very simple when you’re doing a rib. Most ribs are reversible, but they’re not exact palindromes as they’re not exactly the same on the reverse. A 2×2 rib is a true palindrome as it is the same on both sides. A 3×2 rib wouldn’t be however. It’s […]
