Stylin’ Lucy!

[Translate] It’s no secret that I use knitting as an excuse to watch television – it’s the only justification I can come up with to spend countless hours watching a screen of quite often very poorly thought out entertainment. For that reason I am very particular about what I watch on television. One of those shows that I watch is Elementary – the American version of the incredibly brilliant UK Sherlock! If you haven’t seen either, I highly recommend you tune in to both. The latter, Sherlock, is IMHO the best show on television and I can’t wait for […]

Wrapping it up …

[Translate] Well, I’m pleased to say that the adventure of the never ending scarf is finally over! You may recall, I had been knitting a scarf with the Merisoft Handpaint yarn (100% wool – and oh so soft!) using three balls and 2 dye lots. With 2 dye lots there ere definitely options! I could use 2 balls to make 1 scarf and then with the odd dye lot, make a neck warmer. With this yarn, this would have worked. [Translate] Well, who says you can’t have fun on your birthday and knit as well? As a matter of fact, I’ll get some knitting in a little bit later (I’m writing this post very early indeed), but before the mojitos start flowing. This is a short post, just to make sure you’re on the right track with the lace KAL. When last I left you, you had the choice of one of two patterns to work on (I know some of you did both – way to go). The purpose of those patterns were threefold; They were more difficult […]

Lace it up …

[Translate] Okay, it’s time for our last swatch, but before we do that, it’s also time for some changes. By now you’ve gotten used to putting holes (YO’s) in your work and you’re worked a single left slanting and right slanting decrease as well as a double decrease. You don’t know everything about lace knitting yet, but you’re well on your way. There is more to learn but we’ll tackle it as we get to it. In the meantime we need to discuss yarn and casting on. Let’s start with yarn. We’ve been using DK weight yarn for our […]
