Thankful for …

[Translate] For us folks here in Canada, today is the time of year when we celebrate Thanksgiving. I know it’s not celebrated around the world, but I think it’s one of the more important holidays, and we should all practice being thankful just because. Yesterday I celebrated the harvest (and the original reason for this holiday) with a turkey dinner with all the fixings with some great friends. Today, I’m doing a blog post of 10 things I’m thankful for in knitting … That many, many, years ago, somebody decided to take 2 sticks and some yarn and develop […]

The return of the slouchie …

[Translate] Well, it never really went away, but I say return as this is the second post I’ve done with a slouchie hat in it. The great thing about slouchies is that you don’t have to have a ton of hair to wear them and have them look good on you. I mean, yes, rastahs have been wearing them for ages with their dreads usually hidden by  colorful bands of wool, but you don’t have to. Diane is proof of that. This is her wearing one I whipped up on set a few weeks ago. As you can see, […]

A little yarn tasting …

[Translate] What better way to start the week than a little yarn tasting? When I think of one, I’ll let you know. For now however, I’d like to start a little something I call Sip and Knit! Yes, we’ll be tasting a new yarn, but also pairing it with a beverage suitable for that yarn as well. Yes, there’s a strong likelihood that that beverage will include alcohol, but what better way to enjoy a nice yarn than with a nice drink as well? 😉 Well, the yarn we’re tasting this week is called Sweater, by Spud and Chloe. […]

Spring has sprung …

[Translate] spring has got to be a creative person’s favorite season. The rejuvenation of everything after the winter’s cold is not only refreshing, it’s inspiring. Knitters benefit as the vibrant colors that arise from the budding flowers and trees offer a palate that delights the senses. If you’re looking for color options you need look no further than mother nature’s canvas to get ideas aplenty. Inspiration doesn’t stop at just colors though, as ideas for textures abound as well. I recently took a walk with Jason around Stanley Park and snapped a few pics along the way. Here’s a […]

It Takes Balls To Knit … Scarves

[Translate] As far as I know there isn’t any little saying or anything to announce the arrival of fall. It officially arrived here last week, but there was no fanfare, or special message sent out to say that it had. Where I live the leaves won’t change color that much and it is still a few weeks away anyway. What I have noticed however, is that the amount of scarves people are wearing has increased dramatically. Hmmm … scarves. I love scarves! As a matter of fact, when I’m designing a sweater, I’ll usually make a scarf with the […]
