I still need your help …

Our Close Knit Community is growing, but slowly, and I need your help to spread the word. I’m trying to get 2,500 people (yes,I know that’s a few) to donate $10 to help me make more episodes of my online knitting show. How can you help? Well, if you’re able to, donate $10 (or any amount you’re able to) to the project. Clicking on the picture below will bring you to the link where you can make a contribution. There are different perks for different levels of contribution. Also, while you’re doing this, please leave a comment about the […]

The 1,000 stitch a day KAL …

One of the great things about being a knitter is enjoying the sense of community we all share when we meet other knitters. Knitting has a great way of creating instant bonds like no other commonality I know of. It crosses genders, race, knowledge, language, everything, and instantly connects two people like nothing else. In this “Close Knit Community” I have become a part of – and that you are a part of as well – is a great mastermind or collective that can take a random thought and turn it into a tangible idea. It turns out that […]

Let’s get started …

Okay everybody, it’s time to get started! Believe it or not, you can make a sweater in 30 days, even if you’ve never made 1 before. If you haven’t heard about it, you can get all the details here … 30 Day Sweater … and you can save 25% off the cost by registering with Team Hugzzz (at the same link). We’ll also be posting updates on our sweater(s) as we go along. […]

There’s also some major events going on around now. In North America, we’re preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving, Hallowe’en, and Rememberance day as well, and VKL Chicago and Stitches East in Connecticut is one week later. But this year, fall is extra special. Not only are we putting up the first episode of our new show It Takes Balls To Knit … […]

Kauri review …

Today’s post is on another of the yarns from Zealana – Kauri. Kauri is a worsted weight yarn composing of 60% NZ Merino, 30% Possum, and 10% Silk. It comes in 50g balls of approximately 86m or 94y. The suggested gauge for this yarn is 20 stitches to 4 inches using 4.5mm needles. I have found though that it will knit up anywhere from 16 – 20 stitches quite nicely simply by changing the needles. Being a loose knitter I get 18 stitches with 4.5mm and 16 with 5mm. Your results may vary, but you’ll be pleased with the […]
