Left, right, right, left …

Hey, guess what? This blog has been featured on Blog Nation! They have a Facebook page and featured my blog on it. You can go there to have a peek and also like them or even better yet, go to their website Blog Nation, and show this blog some love by giving it a little boost! Here’s the link … Blog Nation and Blog Nation Facebook. And now for our regularly scheduled sock knit-a-long! So I haven’t given you any numbers up until now because I didn’t want to influence your sock at all. Hopefully now you have two […]

It’s Magic! … Thanks Judy …

There are lots of ways to cast-on stitches for toe-up socks. You can do a conventional twin-tail or long tail cast-on and then graft them together, or a figure 8 cast-on, or even a provisional cast-on. Sometime ago, an ingenious knitter developed the technique I like to use the most when casting on for toe-up socks (and other things as well). It’s called Judy’s Magic Cast-on and it was developed by Judy Becker. Judy used to blog but hasn’t for awhile, but you can still find her on Ravelry (JudyBecker) and Twitter @JudyBecker. You can still check out her […]

Getting started …

Okay, thanks for joining me on this KAL. If you’ve never made a pair of socks before, don’t worry, it’s a snap. I do recommend that you look at the links in the last post though and just have a quick read through. We’ll have a bit of a refresher with some parts of it during this KAL. You’ll quickly realize that they’re not as difficult as they first appear. Once you understand the anatomy of the sock, you’ll be that much more comfortable with trying this from scratch. Yes, I said from scratch. You see, we’re not following […]

Sock it to ’em … again …

So welcome to my little sock knit-a-long, Version 2.0. If you weren’t around for the first one, here are the links to the posts involved. This one was done without a pattern and from the cuff down. Don’t be afraif though, you’re taken through all the steps necessary to make yourself a pair of socks that are guaranteed to fit you like a glove, he he, even if you’ve never made a pair before in your life! Yarn review … Spud and Chloe Sock Yarn

Quite awhile ago I did a series of posts on making socks from the cuff to the toe. This tutorial was done without a pattern and went into detail in explaining the anatomy of a sock and how one is made. It is now time to do another one, but this time from the toe up. So for this lesson series you will need to get yourself some sock yarn. If you don’t already have some, you’ll want to run to your local LYS and get some. I was in Wool Is Not Enough the other day and found […]
