Sorry folks, but today I have to brag about what Canada has done at these Olympic games before I say anything about knitting. We came into these games with a huge monkey on our backs – that of never having won a gold medal on home soil. Well, needless to say, we not only got that monkey off our backs, we gave it a good, swift, kick in the a**! With the Martin rink winning gold in curling today, Canada now has 13 gold medals. This is how that accomplishment breaks down:
- We are leading all countries with the number of gold medals won. With only two medal events left, we are guaranteed to win this race.
- We have won more medals than ever before for Canada, in either winter OR summer games.
- We have won more medals than any other host country ever has in winter history.
- We have tied two other countries with the number of gold medals ever won at the winter games – and we still have one to go!

I would just like to thank all the athletes for providing us with such an awesome display for the past 16 days. It’s hard to believe that 2 weeks have gone by so quickly and will be over tomorrow. The one bright spot for me however, is that now that the Olympics are over, I can get some knitting done! I didn’t realize how much of a distraction it would be to have the Olympics right here in Vancouver. Oh well, now that I know I can properly prepare for the second part and finishing my project for the knitting Olympics. If you have finished whatever you started for the knitting Olympics, you have my congratulations. I didn’t have anybody comment on here that they were doing anything specific, but remember that March 3rd starts another one at the kickoff of the Paralympic games. I have started another project – my first bead knitting project. I have strung a lot of beads unto a merino/cashmere blend yarn that I had in my stash and will hope to have something finished within the week.
I’d like to close today’s post with one final wish – for Canada to get its 14th gold medal in ice hockey. I predict a score of 4-2 for Canada. █ ♥ █

Wow, Steven!!! I am impressed. I have no idea how you have time to knit, design and watch the Olympics. So glad to hear that you are tackling some bead designs—will be excited to see what you come up with.
Go, Canada, Go—as I sit here at work missing all the action.
Carry on.
