Chicago …

WOW! It’s not often that I am at a loss for words, but this is one of those times. I have just spent the last 5 days in the windy city – Chicago – for the Vogue Knitting Live event. This was my first VKL but it definitely won’t be my last. As a matter of fact, I can’t see myself missing another one. If you are a knitter, or crocheter or fiber artist, you simply have to put it on your bucket list as one of the things to get done as soon as possible. In the space of the 3 day event (I went 1 day early and stayed a day longer) I met more people than I thought I would have in the next 3 years. I’m not going to name drop (yet) but quite a few of the people I’ve mentioned in posts before were there, and some that I didn’t know were going to be as well. As Franklin Habit  (yes, he was on my list and he was there) put it, I hope I didn’t queen over people too badly.

So just what is this VKL event you’ve seen ads for and heard people talking about all the time? Well, the simplicity of it is that it’s a collection of some of the most brilliant minds in the industry that have been brought together through the blood, sweat, and tears of the employees of Vogue Knitting to educate people on all things knitting. Throw in two floors (yes, two) of vendors and you’ve got a complete convention for any knitter at any level! Oh, did I mention the fashion shows? And the demonstrations? And the Gala dinner? And the knitteratzzi (Amy Detjen’s phrase)? And the YARN????? Well, here are a few pictures … there’s lots more coming …
