Chicago … My kind of knitting town!

I know I promised to do a review of the Webs Cubics Interchangeable needles and I will (initial reaction – love them!!) but it’s one more sleep before I go to Chicago for Vogue Knitting Live and I’m ready to burst at the seams I’m so excited. Not only have I never been to a Vogue Knitting Live, I’ve never been to Chicago!! So I’m going to make sure I take in a few sites as well. The Bears are even playing on Sunday afternoon! Tough choice though as it’s the last day of VKL. Oh well, I can catch the Bears another time! 😉

So you might wonder what a knitter like myself is going to do at VKL. Well, the first class I wanted to sign up for was sold out – Franklin Habit’s Knitting Your Fiber class. I find taking pictures of yarn to be especially challenging and you need optimum conditions when you’re shooting outside. Inside is a little easier as you can control your environment a little better, but you still need the right equipment to get the true essence of the fiber. Then of course the person viewing the picture has to have their monitor calibrated properly, which most users don’t.

So now I’m pretty sure I’m going to do Deborah Newton’s Finishing School class. What a great opportunity to increase my finishing skills with one of the best. I’ll have to knit up a sampler swatch for the homework for this class though! 😉 I’ve been a huge fan of Deb’s for quite some time now and she’s actually been top of my list of knitting personalities that I’d like to meet and chat with. I’ll be in line to get an autograph on my copy of Finishing School as well – which I’ll review next week after I return.

There’s a quite a list of people I’d like to meet too – Melissa Leapman, Trisha Malcolm, Nicky Epstein, Lily Chin, Stephanie Pearl McPhee, Fiona Ellis, and more! It’s going to be a blast. I’ll try and take as many pictures as possible and do a review on the entire event. If you’re going let me know and maybe we can meet each other personally there!

Hugzzz 😎
