It’s beginning to look a lot like …

Nope, I’m not going to finish that sentence, but I’m sure you know how it goes. Yes, it’s that time of year when everybody starts to get a little crazy trying to find that perfect gift. I may have the answer for you – and it may be 2 gifts in one. The first ever (but not the last) It Takes Balls To Knit … Scarves wall calendar is here! If you’re already ordered one, you should be getting it shortly as they’ve been mailed out. If you haven’t, well, what the heck are you waiting for??? I have to say that I was very impressed with how they turned out and I’m already designing and planning next years (yeah, the Mayans don’t know what they’re saying). For $20 you get a fantastic 11″ x 17″ spiral bound wall calendar, AND a chance to win an iPad2, AND a link to 5 patterns from the scarves in the calendar. Did I mention that part of the proceeds from the sales will be going to prostate and breast cancer research?

Over the next few days I’m going to introduce you to some of the models in the calendar. I’d like to personally thank them all again for their work – I obviously couldn’t have done the calendar without them. The first one I’d like to introduce you to is Christi – who appears in February of 2012. Christi is a good friend, and photographer who decided to pose in the calendar in support of her friend who died from her fight with cancer. Her friend Mary, appears on February 14, in honor of her wedding day and one of the happiest days of her life. Mary’s life was short, from 24 September 1951 – 16 September 2011, but she impacted many people  and continues to live in their hearts.

As for Christi herself, when you see her the first thought that will come to mind is grace – at least it is that way for me. When Christi first asked to be in the calendar she was very specific in that she wanted a LONG and WIDE scarf in a cranberry. Well, she got what she asked for – I think. It is quite long and it is cranberry – and I think it’s quite wide as well. Her scarf is cabled and the pattern is one that is available when you purchase the calendar. Sorry, no sneak peeks of the scarf here – okay, maybe a small one.
