Spring Forward…

I don’t usually pay attention to certain things – I wait to hear it through the grapevine. So it was with a little surprise that I heard that clocks move forward this spring. At least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere that follow daylight savings time. Those in the south that are heading into fall, your clocks go back. For us though, it means more daylight time to knit! Yeah! The question is what to knit. I have a few (okay, more than a few)projects on the go (and I plan to finish them all), but I really want to start something new. Also, it’s almost spring! You can see my dilemma, right? There is all this new growth sprouting up around everywhere (sorry for anyone in Canada who lives East of the Lower Mainland) and I’m thinking my needles would love to have something new on them too.

So here’s where you come in. I’m thinking a Knit-A-Long with Spring as the theme. It can be anything, but you have to be able to link it to Spring somehow. I’ll take the three best ideas and post them up here for voting at the end of this week (Saturday). We’ll spend next week sourcing materials and voting, and then get started. A few things t think about though …

  • Obviously, it has to keep with the theme.
  • Let the pattern be easily available – whether free or through a download. If there is a cost, try to find a pattern that is $6 or less.
  • Try to keep the difficulty level to intermediate or beginner. We don’t want to make it too difficult or to leave anyone behind.
  • Something with color would be great!
  • There should be a slew of new magazines out now with spring/summer knits in them (a few from Vogue are in the picture below)
  • Lastly, something that won’t take too long to finish so that you can enjoy it right away.

So there you have a general idea of what to look for. If you’ve recently picked out something that fits into this theme, please let us know. If you haven’t and like the idea, or were planning on something new, that would be even better. Tell us about it and we can all do this together. Personally, I’m thinking either a nice wrap for a friend, or a vest for myself. Believe it or not, not only don’t I own a vest, but I haven’t knit one either! Okay, here’s a pic to pique your imagination. Let’s see what we decide …

Hugzzz 😎
