Another Monday marking the start of another week. actually, this is the start of the 27th week of this year, meaning half the year is already gone! Wow – where has the time gone? Well, I’ve moved and will be spending the next week getting organized (lots of work to do) and settled. I am determined to get some knitting done in the next couple of days as well – before  I go crazy! On that note, I am going to finish a sweater I designed – Jason – and work on getting some final pictures of it for the pattern. I test fitted it 2 weeks ago on Jason (the person I made it for) and only have the neck to finish. I was actually surprised at how well it came out as there are cables in it yet I did it in a black yarn (Patons Classic Merino) and they still have quite a bit of pop. Here are a few pictures taken with Jason’s iPhone.

Sorry ladies, Jason’s girlfriend prevented me from including his contact information. Yes, that’s the Barrington Braid you see on the sleeve. This pattern will be available for download from this blog early next week. There were a few customizations with the saddle shoulder that I will put in as an option. I will probably make a drop down version for myself so you can see both. I’ll keep you updated on the progress – both of the sweater and the move.

  1. That’s a beautiful piece of work Steve! Yes, it’s surprising how well the cables show in black – very nice! I look forward to the details so I can make a cardi.
Hope the move went as well as moves can go and that you’re settling in nicely.

  2. Thanks Anne! I agree about the black. I hate to remake things but i might make mine in black as well.

  3. I’ve frogged my first attempt at lattice 3 times this week, but with Jason’s sweater as motivation, I’ll keep going. I can see that sweater in Midnight Blue on my husband. Very classy. How I wish my skills were up to the level of my wishes. :-)

  4. Verogall, they’ll get there. It is just a little practice. After a while you’ll get to the point where you don’t need to look at the pattern and/or you come up with your own. I should point out though that Jason uses the Barrington Braid which is not a lattice. Lattices are usually uneven number of braids (they can be done with an even number though) that are closed at the outer edge.
