Sweater Designs … from the cuff …

I started knitting because I wanted to be able to have an idea of a sweater and be able to make it in any color or fiber I wanted. While I have come to learn that it isn’t that simple, the actual process isn’t that far from that. If you’re patient, persistent, and pretty good with simple, repetitive calculations, you can design and make a sweater pretty easily. Of course, the more complex you want the sweater, the more difficult it will be to design and make it. I’ll go through the basics of designing and making a sweater […]

Wrapping it up …

Well, I’m pleased to say that the adventure of the never ending scarf is finally over! You may recall, I had been knitting a scarf with the Merisoft Handpaint yarn (100% wool – and oh so soft!) using three balls and 2 dye lots. With 2 dye lots there ere definitely options! I could use 2 balls to make 1 scarf and then with the odd dye lot, make a neck warmer. With this yarn, this would have worked. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t realize this in time, so I didn’t do this. Also, you might not always have […]

Calendar Sale …

Well, we’re 2 weeks into the New Year and i have a few calendars left. Sooooo, they’re going on sale. From now until they’re gone, all the calendars will be on sale for $15, which includes shipping. Sorry, this will be the final price as part of the proceeds from this calendar is going to Breast and Prostate Cancer research. If you’re local, please let me know and I can arrange to drop it off to you or meet you for a tea and some knitting time. 😉 There’s still a lot of value to be had from the […]

The Constantly Changing Scarf …

You might remember a couple of posts ago when I talked about a scarf I was working on. Here’s the link if you don’t – SCARF. In the post I had mentioned that I had three balls of yarn – Merisoft Hand Paint – in the same colorway but two different dye lots. I had started making the scarf and was planning to alternate the second dye lot through the middle of the scarf and begin and finish with the dye lot that I had two of. Due to a few different things, I decided to frog that and […]

Knitting and Chai … A Common Thread

You may remember last year I started something called A Common Thread. I didn’t do much with it, not because I didn’t want to, but more because I wasn’t sure which way to take it. I thought I would just leave it and let the right idea of what it should be come to me. Well, it has. My original idea for ACT was that it was going to b like the six degrees of separation, but more personal. I mean, it’s kinda neat to be connected to Kevin Bacon, but it doesn’t really do anything for me to […]
