Color

Thank you!

[Translate] I recently put out a post in the Ravelry Group and echoed it on Facebook asking for knitters for the 2015 scarf calendar. The theme of the calendar is cables, as hinted in the previous post. Needless to say, the response has been overwhelming. Thank you everyone for your support. I will be sorting the responses and responding to them in the next day or two. Please be patient if you haven’t heard back yet. Unfortunately, I only have so much yarn and so many scarves to knit, so I couldn’t choose everyone. For the most part, the […]

Fall into Inspiration …

[Translate] Fall is arguably the best season of the year for inspiration for knitters. While Spring boasts the color of fresh blossoms, Fall has the color of the leaves as they change color. This isn’t all though, as Fall also brings the desire to knit as the days get cooler and we have the urge to get comfy and warm. This picture of Mud Lake in Northern Wisconsin by Mike Crowley, almost transports you to the water’s edge in an Adirondack chair with a steaming cup of coffee or hot chocolate and your current knitting project! It’s easy to […]

Color and Texture …

[Translate] For most of us, there is usually a choice between color and texture when creating a piece. I was with Shoshana from Wool Is Not Enough the other day when I saw something that allows for both. Sho is working on a blanket for a friend’s wedding. The blanket consists of a collection of 12″ squares that are sewn together to form the blanket. One square in particular caught my eye … here is a picture of it. This is a square from the book The Great American Afghan, and it is done using the Ultra Alpaca by […]

Spring has sprung …

[Translate] spring has got to be a creative person’s favorite season. The rejuvenation of everything after the winter’s cold is not only refreshing, it’s inspiring. Knitters benefit as the vibrant colors that arise from the budding flowers and trees offer a palate that delights the senses. If you’re looking for color options you need look no further than mother nature’s canvas to get ideas aplenty. Inspiration doesn’t stop at just colors though, as ideas for textures abound as well. I recently took a walk with Jason around Stanley Park and snapped a few pics along the way. Here’s a […]

The Constantly Changing Scarf …

[Translate] You might remember a couple of posts ago when I talked about a scarf I was working on. Here’s the link if you don’t – SCARF. In the post I had mentioned that I had three balls of yarn – Merisoft Hand Paint – in the same colorway but two different dye lots. I had started making the scarf and was planning to alternate the second dye lot through the middle of the scarf and begin and finish with the dye lot that I had two of. Due to a few different things, I decided to frog that […]
