Warm Hands Review

[Translate] Last summer I was delighted to get an e-mail from Kate Davies asking about a collaboration on a project she was working on with Janette Sloan. It turns out they had contacted 13 designers about doing 15 designs (they were each contributing one) for a new book to be published late 2019 – early 2020. Yes, I was a bit giddy, I have to admit. To be recognized by someone of Kate and Jeannette’s stature was a very thrilling moment for me. Needless to say I said YES!!! And to boot, I got to work with a new […]

New Year, New Decade … New You?

[Translate] Welcome to the Roarin’ 20’s! Oops, that was 100 years ago. So what are the 20’s of this era going to be called I wonder? When we look back, what will we say about them? Well, I’m not certain what everyone else is going to say about them, but I know I’m going to say it was the decade I expanded my view and increased my knitting IQ! How would you like to do that with me? How? Sweaters and More! What’s that? Here’s a brief little video explaining that and how I think we can all take […]

It’s Time!!

[Translate] Well, by the time you read this, it will be! What time? 7:00 PM BST (British Summer Time). Time to register for classes at Perth Festival of Yarn 2019 and get your tickets! And by Perth, I mean Perth, Scotland, not Australia (maybe somebody should put together one there). I’m also pleased to say that I’ll be teaching two classes there as well, on guess what? CABLES!! There will be a beginner cables class on Sunday morning, then an advanced class that same afternoon. I promise I won’t have you twisted in knots though! I’ll also be joined […]

Countess Ablaze!

[Translate] As you may know, I am currently spending 2 months traveling through the UK and Europe. There are a few reasons for the trip, but among the primary ones are to visit family members and friends that I have not met or seen in ages, and to explore the knitting culture firsthand on the “other side of the pond”! I recently got a chance to do the latter by visiting a yarn store in Manchester, England – Countess Ablaze! I’ve been visiting my aunt Jem for the last week since arriving in the UK, and we went into […]

Getting Better at Knitting

[Translate] Like most things in life, the secret to becoming better at knitting is to embrace the social aspect of it and to congregate with other knitters! When I learned to knit I didn’t have the benefit of YouTube and numerous knitting groups to choose from. Yes, I came from the school of hard knocks and have frogged many a project and made many, many, mistakes. While I’d like to think that helped make me a better knitter, I can truly say that I saw a real difference in my knitting IQ growth once I stared to knit with other […]
